Untitled Mass of Red String

The title of this piece is Untitled Mass of Red String, it utilizes a variety of materials including wool yarn, fencing, and polyester resin. When I began to create this work,  I was questioning my role in a new environment. An environment where I felt isolated, my intentions then were an attempt to find a means of connecting myself with the environment and to reunite the pieces of myself that had become scattered in the process of change. I was indeed uncomfortable in my skin, a stranger to myself, and I was running into the walls which I had encased myself within at every turn. There were problems attaining materials and I was beginning to ask myself why I had put myself in such a position. Things seemed like they were wrong, but I was unable to locate the problems, but I eased my nervous hands with the tying of the string on the fence. The red spoke to me of some passion that lay within me, it told me that it it was right, and I listened to what the color had to say.

One morning while washing in the hot water it came to me. The slow ebb and flow of my breaths of steamy washroom air. Eyes closed, I found myself seeing myself, seeing the forms that make up myself, the shapes that were my breathing. I was in the pinnacle moment when ones lungs are full, on the brim of exhale, when I felt it. Felt the smoothness of my throat, the condensation from the steam in the air as it went, the fullness of my blood and the passion within my full chest. I  became aware  of my intentions when I was beginning my journey.  This piece is what I saw when I saw myself from the inside, made from the comforts of nervous hands and the sudden awareness of thought.
